By Train

Thiruvalla Railway Station (about 8 to 10 km) is the nearest major railway station, well connected by all trains on the Trivandrum to Ernakulam main line. Auto-rickshaws and local buses run from Thiruvalla to Niranam.

By Air

Trivandrum International Airport (~110 km) and Cochin International Airport (~125 km) are the two nearest international airports. Pre-paid taxis or trains via Thiruvalla connect from both.

By Road

Niranam is about 8 km from Thiruvalla town via Niranam Road, and easily reached from MC Road / NH-183. The temple is on the banks of the Pampa river, well signposted within Niranam.

By Bus

Frequent KSRTC and private buses run from Thiruvalla bus stand and Pathanamthitta to Niranam. Get down at Niranam. The temple is a short walk from the centre.

Visitor Tips

  • Dress modestly in traditional attire: men in dhoti/mundu, women in saree or salwar kameez. Avoid shorts and revealing clothing inside the temple.
  • Remove footwear before entering the temple premises.
  • Morning darshan hours are ideal for a peaceful experience.
  • Saturday mornings (extended hours) and festival days tend to be more crowded.
  • Photography may be restricted inside the sanctum. Please check with the temple authorities.
  • Walk along the banks of the Pampa adjacent to the temple. The setting is itself a part of the darshanam.

Best Time to Visit

The temple can be visited year-round. The most spiritually significant occasions are Maha Shivaratri (Kumbham, February to March) and Vidyarambham on Vijayadasami (Kanni, September to October). The cooler months (November to February) offer the most comfortable weather for travel to Niranam.
