Maha Shivaratri

മഹാ ശിവരാത്രി

Kumbham (February to March)1 day (night-long)

The great night of Lord Shiva, observed at Niranam Thrikkapaleeswaram with a night-long vigil, abhishekam, and continuous chanting of Shiva mantras. The most significant celebration at this Shiva temple.

Vidyarambham on Vijayadasami

Kanni (September to October)1 day

Because the presiding deity is Dakshinamurthy, the Lord of Knowledge, the temple is thronged on Vijayadasami by parents who come to initiate their children into the world of letters. A long tradition rooted in the temple's connection with the Kannasa poets and the Niranathu Sala.
